IPS glow
IPS glow is a hazy silver or warm sheen visible on dark content on IPS panels, especially from an angle. It is a property of the panel type rather than a defect.
In practice
IPS glow is part of how IPS panels work and every IPS screen has some. It is strongest when you sit close to a large screen, because you see the corners at a steep angle. It is rarely a reason to return a monitor, since a replacement panel of the same type will usually glow just as much.
How to check
Show full screen black in the dead pixel test and move your head or step back. Glow shifts, fades or changes corner as your angle changes. Adding some light to the room and lowering brightness reduces it. If the bright areas don’t move at all, you are looking at backlight bleed instead.
